[xj40] Re: Headliner musings

David,

I did follow the advice of East-Holman Jaguar in Jackson,

Mississippi. They use Blane’s Upholstery Shop exclusively for all their
headliner and upholstery repairs. Blane’s quotes me $225 for the job.
That included them supplying the materials. They did the entire
headliner plus the sunroof. The car headliner looked brand-new when I
got the car back. I was very impressed. The sunroof slides smooth.
Actually, the sunroof slides better now than before since the old
sunroof headliner was coming loose and causing it to jam sometimes.
They also did the whole job in one day, so that was really nice. It has
been about 6 months since I had it done and the headliner still looks
like a new car.

Mine was starting to sag, so I decided to get it replaced. The local
shop’s price was quite low, so I let them do it rather than mess with
it
myself.

If I had gone about this the right way from the start and supplied the
shop
with the correct material, it would have cost me an extra $100 or so,
but
it would have been smarter.
