[xj40] starter removal

Does anyone know and tricks to get at the upper starter bold
without removing the whole intake system?

If you could please reply via email, I will get that on my phone
and do not have computer in garage.

thanks–

Todd,

Some find (as I did) that it is impossible to get to, and
get enough torque on, that top starter bolt unless they
remove the tranny mount and tilt the engine/gearbox down a
little on a floor jack to give access via a very long
extension and ‘wobbler’ on a socket from below.

Others have removed the windshield wiper motor/gearbox so
that they can apply sufficient leverage to a wrench they
have fitted to the head of the bolt from above after cutting
away some of the sound insulation between the transmission
and the tranny tunnel.

Be warned - that bolt can be very tight!
