Xjs abs brakes-------------------

were the abs brakes on an xjs Girling? or did they use other makers products like ati or lockheed

Teves 3 from 89 or so onward, with ATE outboard rear callipers on facelift UK cars from 93 > 95 or so. There was a switch to a more conventional break booster system with ABS at some point in 95 for what would’ve been the last cars.

The calipers were Girling up until the rears moved outboard. That’s because the calipers actually have nothing to do with the ABS function.

The fittings that connect the brake lines to the calipers themselves are a different standard at the front than at the rear. Metric at the front, I think. That’s because the front Girlings are actually a later design, from when Girling went from its weird 3-piston caliper to the 4-piston.
