XJS pre-facelift 700r4 comparison with 4.11 ratio vs T400

Finally got the comparison between my new 700r4 vs. the original turbo 400 with my 89 xjs 5.3 with a 4.11 ratio.

I’ve not addled my brain with math. I’m still working off my really bad head cold.

I “think” the 700R4 adds OD. with a rather tall ratio of .70.

So would that represent a 30% drop in RPM’s at any given speed as long as the transmission is in "D’?

My car is similar, but with a much 'taller" differential. 2.88!!!
Jaguar’s effort to get an OD benefit with a BW 3 speed.

It loafs at 70!!!

Yes indeed. It works well. I am really happy with it. So far, no drawbacks other than the fact that it seems to run on the Cooler side when driving at speeds above 50.

carl, Jag 400 and 700R4 as well as the 4L60 are all GM transmissions, NOT BW Borgwarner.

I know that.

I was unclear in my comment. My XJ wuzza 6 was BW equipped.
A basic old 3 speed So, I surmised that Jaguar sought the benefits of OD by using the quite tall 2.88 ratio, rather than one I the mid 3’s.

So, when I 'lumped" it, it used the 4L60E. OD at .70. Resulting in a very tall 4th. But, the LT1 “pulls” it with aplomb.
