I have made these BD.6113 Packing for Seat Slides (4). I made them out of 3/8" Baltic Birch plywood, 1-1/2" x 15". They are found on page 8 of the FHC supplement and page 11 of the DHC supplement, under Floor Panels, not Seats incidentally. So the question is, what was used to cover them? Moquette, rexine, leather? Is there definitive evidence, did it vary from year to year, or is it just trimmer’s opinions or owner’s preferences? Urs Schmid and Bernard Viart do not mention these. I covered my packing strips in black leather, came out fine, matches my gearbox dipstick hole cover. The seat runners were full of carpet fuzz, needed a good cleaning, so these packings should help keep that down. I screwed them to a pallet so I could run them back and forth while spraying with the cleaner; the eye bolt is a handle. [IMG_20200526_151021957] Nice to have seats that move easily now. Wooden seat wedges

Assuming the 140 is the same general construction idea as my 120 FHC, the 2443 bar should be under the metal floor panel, and the 2359 flat head screws hold it up, and the holes in the floor and bar are countersunk so the screws will sit down in it. They do not significantly weaken the floor, as there is no force trying to pull them out. XK120 DHC Removal of seats

Sounds like something is non-original about your seat installation. I imagine you have regular nuts on the bottom. Originally there were 4 steel bars on the bottom with 4 threaded holes each, 2 for flat head screws to hold it to the floor and 2 for the seat runners. If you find regular nuts under there, I would put some vise grips on them to hold them while you unscrew the screws from the top side, or vise grips on the heads while you undo the nuts.
