[xk] Dome light for DHC

Listers,
My trimmer called me and said he couldn’t find the dome light for
my XK140 dhc. I told him I didn’t have one, so he’s going to run a
wire behind the headliner in the event I’m able to come up with one
someday. My question is: Does anyone know where a dome light can be
had, or is there a suitable after-market knockoff I can substitute?
I have the lamp for the boot, but for all I know it could be the
dome lamp and I’m missing the boot lamp. How do they differ, or are
they the same? TIA

Joel,
I’m told that totally correct XK-140 DHC interior lights are almost
unobtainable. Repro XK-150 DHC lights have apparently been remanufactured
and are a close exchange for an XK-140 unit. Guy Broad lists one for about
$90US. SNG Barratt lists $55 repro XK140 FHC units as suitable for the DHC.
I’m not sure how the FHC version differs from the DHC.

The boot lid light is relatively flat while the interior light is shaped
more like a half cylinder.

Joel,
I believe the dome light for the 140 and the 120 are the same. I have an
extra domelight for my 120 DHC. If you are interested, please respond to my

thing I asked. For nearly 30 years I’ve had my interior dome light
mounted in my boot. I’ll have to start digging through my
many ‘‘boxes o’stuff’’. If I’m unsuccessful in locating it I’ll be

Hi Joel

I cant help you find the elusive DHC interior light, but I would
suggest running two wires behind the headliner.

The second wire is a ground wire for the light. It runs from the
light, along with the power wire, behind the headliner, and ends up
being grounded with a self tapping screw, on the top of the right
hand rear wheel arch sheet metal, all covered up by the headliner.–

Hello Joel:
I have a dome light & I’m not sure what it is off of…
The bezel [chrome] is 2"x 5-1/4" long, the lens is white, curved on top &
rectangular bottom to fit the bezel.
Check it out & let me know.
