Ron and others who gave usefull info,
I just found out that the first test they do at the testing station is to
check the headlight Glass. It should have the EURO sign stamped/moulded in.
This is the first indication they have to see if alignment is right.
Afterwards they test the actual beams. So I will have to borrow a set (
Ron, do you know if the set from a 150 will fit?)
They also forbid winged wheel nuts. So I have to borrow a set of those as
well.
They check braking power and alignment.( I will test them on a bank before)
All light functions are checked ( brake, city light etc) (no problem)
The check all underside: chassis, leakages, springs and absorbers all
steering and handling components ( no problem)
Reflectors are not an issue. ( They were on my Willy)
Mirrors must be there ( one interior and at least one external on the
driversside) ( did not fix it on the wing but went fior the window frame
version ( not sure about that)
Seat belts not an issue
Interior not an issue
CO emissions is not an issue ( to old)
Even how the engine runs is not an issue ( but your own problem)
Beside the above they will check general appearance an all the stuff they
normally do in the yearly APK (MOT). I know that they have about 1 meter of
official guides that they can refer to. but in general it is all depending
on the guy. I will cross my fingers. I hope that I can arrange everything
soon, but fear it will be august soon.
I will just have to try it. I also have a new challenge. I got the tip that
I can get a one day license in order to drive there!! I did not know that
and planned a trailer. I am not sure yet if I dare to drive there!!
decisions, decisions I will make some more test drives before!
WOW! A British automobile that doesn’t leak something.
I was told years ago that if I didn’t want oil spots in my driveway, I
shouldn’t have bought a British car. 2 Jaguars and 3 MGs later my driveway
is slick, but I wouldn’t give up the cars for anything.
Good luch with the test.
