XK Lovers
Just joined the XK digest and am looking forward to participating. I bought an XK120 DHC a couple of years ago. I was very fortunate to have finally talked its owner, Dick Bair, into selling it to me after a decade of bending his ear. I guess I should have talked to his wife all along but that is beside the point. Dick owned the car for 40 years and drove it often, but not very far. The car is a fairly original and it was well cared for all its life, particularly in the last 40 years when Dick owned it.
Dick is a real car guy, having owned a Birdcage Maserati (S/N 2469, now in the Indianapolis Museum). I used to help him with the Birdcage occasionally, even though I was barely old enough to drive at the time. Dick also owned a GT40, (S/N 1070, which now regularly runs the European historics), an alloy body 275 GTB/4 and a host of others. The best Jag story, though is that he turned down an offer to buy a le Mans winning D-Jag because he didn’t have enough garage space. He owned the XK120 DHC at the time and he liked the 120 better!! I guess that was good, since I could never afford a D-Type.
Still sorting the car out and wanted to thank everyone in the Jaguar community for being so very helpful. There is a lot to understand about these cars.
Best Regards,
Cliff
