[xk] Weather Strip on XK 140 OTS

I am replacing weather strips in the door areas of a 140 OTS. The channels
remain in the hinge posts, but have been removed from the sills.

I will replace them. I see them for sale from at least one supplier. Are
they readily fabricated from some common extruded metal available at the
corner hardware store? How are they affixed to the sills?

Also, several major suppliers only offer the weather strip rubber for the
hinge post and sills for the 140 OTS – but Philip Porter’s book (p.41)
shows it on the shut face as well. Which is the proper approach – and how
is the rubber secured to the metal?________________

on my second edition porter book p. 40.
what looks like weather stripping is really a soft welting. It is put in
between the shut face and fender.

Peter,
The channel is not extruded but rather aluminium sheet bent into a “C” cross
section (same as the hinge channel). The channel is attached to the sill
with pop rivets.
