[xk] windshield chrome

I am restoring an XK-150 and am struggling to put the
bottom-of-the-windshield chrome strip into the rubber windshield gasket. I
got about half way done - after three hours - and tore the lip of one
gasket. I am ready to start again but am not looking forward to it. I guess
it must be done after the gasket and glass are in place? Are there any tips
to making the job less frustrating and time consuming?

Bob;
You’ve got it, it must done after the windshield and gasket are in place and
then it is even tougher. One tip is make sure the it is contoured to fit
before you start, this may require some bending but if you do get a small bend
most likely it will be under the gasket. Next you will need to anchor one end
unless you have two helpers. Also you must set in the deep edge first and use
a small smooth item to lift the shallow edge over the rim of the chrome. With
all of this I still receive one small tear as a result. If you get one you can
either super glue it or if it is real small you can trim the edge with a razor
blade and it will not show.
