[xk] XK150 exhaust heat shields

Interesting that these heat shields have come up again!
10 years ago on XK Lovers:

found on some 140’s and 150’s. I’ve just received the latest issue of Jaguar
World and on page 37 there is a picture of a heat shield between the exhaust
pipe and the spare wheel well. The caption says that this part is " often
forgotten…". Is this the mystery part so often discussed recently? My 150
dhc, #S837859 does not have this part or holes drilled for it. Regards Ron

It is a twin exhaust, 1959 dhc, vin # S837859, engine # V5866-8, body #
P7121, gearbox # JL42497JS.

Yes this is the part we are bantering about! Fascinating that
there is a car that hasn’t even got the holes. Perhaps it was so
often forgotten that it was even forgotten on the day the car was
born?

John

Were such shields also used on any/all of the various 140 types?
Thanks
