[xk] xk150 explored

I was wondering if there was another outlet for the book
xk150 explored. It is quite pricy plus shipping from England
is $226.00 dollars. For the standard edition and 175 lb.
sterling for the leather bound edition plus shipping.
Thank you all in advance

Welsh Enterprises in Steubenville, Ohio is a U.S.
distributor of XK120 Explored and XK140 Explored. XK150
Explored is not yet listed on their website, but I suspect
the book will eventually be available through Welsh for less
money than ordering direct from England.–

Denny,

I just received a flyer from Welsh Enterprises in Steubenville, Ohio. They
are accepting orders for XK150 Explored at $195.95 each for the standard
issue.

Their phone number is (800) 875-5247

I have no affiliation with them other than as a satisfied customer of parts
for my Jaguars.

Moss Motors has them for $318. Welsh are at $395. Crazy prices. I got mine for $150 a couple of years ago.
Well worth the money although there are many mistakes and things left out. May be worth waiting for the new edition should it happen in out lifetime.

Just picked one up from Welsh on Ebay, $260. Painful, but a gorgeous book and reference nonetheless, but wish there was more detail on DHC top fixings and hardware. Sorry, kids, there goes your inheritance…

What do you mean? They’re lining up for the DHC…

amazing cars are selling for $100,000 usd and more and a measley $260 is a problem
I can assure you the work to put these books together they should be $500 each.
If you require any infoe send us your queries I have made everything from the complete hoodframe to converting FHC to DHC and provided info patterns and materials for the trimming of 1/2 a dozen of these and they remain the best trimmed DHC cars in Australia by far.

…tis an odd juxtaposition of values, innit?

:grimacing:

I preferred it in the old days when you could buy them for $1000 to $3000 dollars and no one cared if the air in tires was original or anything and we just drove them around as cars and a means of transport!

I’m with you on that. I remember being aghast some years back when it cost me almost as much to get my speedometer refurbished as it did to originally buy the whole car!

Chris.

It is an interesting fact that most of the cars that languished in sheds, barns and garages for decades were put away because the cost of repairing a not insurmountable problem exceeded the value of the cars. Lesser cars would have been junked, but there was something about these old sports cars that preserved them for better times.

Paid $237.50 for my 140 DHC in 1968. Included in the price was a fully reconditioned head that I had to pick up at the local Jag dealership. Price for the head was $60. Seller couldn’t afford to pick up the head. The dealership still had many parts in stock for the car including suspension bushings etc.

This view…!

I have a back window for a 150 fixed head coupe if anybody is interested. Don’t know why it came with the Roadster project I am working on.

Although not exactly fitting the title of this thread, I guess others may also have seen the “Jaguar XK 140 Explored” version now offered on eBay USA with a starting bid of $3500 and you can have it for $6500.

Although this is one of 140 Limited Edition Leather Bound versions, it is even more special as it has been written by Lawrence Pomeroy according the seller. So forget Bernard Viart and Roger Payne as the authors.
Now I’m really curious whose autograph is the book?

PS: I have a quite a number of Motor Year books by Lawrence Pomeroy. They could be worth a fortune but unfortunately they don’t have his autograph…
