XK140 Lower Ball Joints (again!)

The modern replacement is I believe high strength nylon.
The original cups in 1948 for Mark V and XK120 were either brass or Morganite bronze, then they went to Ferrobestos which is a sort of composite fiberous material intended to run dry, then back to Morganite bronze, and eventually nylon.

XK120 Lower Steering Ball Joint Question

This subject has come up many times on this forum. The Mark V was the first Jaguar model to have ball joint front suspension, and they used most of the same parts for XK120. Jaguar initially made the Mark V and XK120 with Morganite bronze cups and grease fittings on the lower ball caps.
