[xk8] 200 XK8 fuel pump

I have replaced the fuel pump and the car ran great. The car
will not start now and there is no fuel pressure. I have 12
volts at #3 fuse but no voltage at #7 fuse. Any thoughts
would be greatly appreciated

For safety reasons, power to fuse number 7 is shut off by the
ECU a couple of seconds after cranking if the engine does not
start. This is normal. If a helper cranks while you measure,
you should see the voltage at fuse #7.

Sounds like either a defective pump or the fuel pump inside of
the tank popped off. In particular, the Airtex replacement
pumps do not have a stop for the hose connection and are
prone to blowing off under pressure.–

I meant hose popped off at the pump.

Also, the black rectangular device about an inch square in the
electrical wires to the pump in the tank is an electrical
noise filter. If that was not replaced, sometimes it fails
with the new pump because the old pump had put it under
excessive electrical stress when it failed.–

Steve Many thanks for your advive.
I pulled the tank back out again and lo and behold , the
fuel line had popped off the fuel pump. The new pump has the
lip on it.
I will vacuum out the tank and replace it tonight.
One thing I do is lower the front end of the rear axle to
get better access to the two fuel lines.
Thanks
