[xk8] Computer glitch?

Has anyone with an XK8/R experienced this problem?

My 2000 XKR was parked outside a hotel overnight. Would not
start next morning. Dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree.
Dire messages flashed. Amber and red lights appeared.
Practically screamed ‘‘take me to the dealer!’’ Switched off
and tried again. Same thing.

Switched off and tried the headlights to see if the battery
was functioning. Lights were bright. Tried the ignition
again and it started immediately and ran without further ado
all the reat of the journey, about 120 miles.

Stange and troubling.–

This problem seems epidemic this summer on Jaguarforums.com.

There are a few areas where poor connections or corrosion on
the power mains can cause this type of intermittent problem.

-Power mains crimps: Squeeze the battery cable crimps
tightly with a pair of vise-grips.

-Check that the bolts for the heavy power connections to the
three megafuses in the trunk (behind the spare) have not
loosened.

-Go to each fusebox and make sure the power mains connection
bolt is clean and tight.

-Clean the battery connections

Always disconnect the battery first when placing a tool on
the power mains to avoid the risk of serious burns due to an
accidental short of the tool to ground.–

It happened again…after a 2 year hiatus. My mechanic says It is a faulty relay in the fusebox. Anybody with more experience on this topic?

I have a 98 XKB with same issue. Periodically would not crank for the last month. A few tries would eventually get the engine to crank. It would light up the dash as mentioned above and create a loud CLICK but starter would not engage/rotate the engine. Swapped battery and seemed to be ok for a week, but then returned. All fuses are good. All connections appear to be good but have not removed and reconnected all of the power line connections in the bulkhead.

Did short the starter at the two terminals on the starter and it engaged and turned the engine for second, so seems the starter is OK.

hooked up a OBDII reader and get P1035 this morning. this seems to be a TRANSMISSION code but and still searching for details. One site seems to indicate the P1035 can cause the NO CRANK condition. but not sure I trust the full details on this site.

http://p1035-jaguar.autotroublecode.com/
P1035 Jaguar Auto Trouble Code on vehicles with electronically controlled automatic transmissions, the 3-4 shift solenoid is responsible for actuating the hydraulic circuits to activate clutches or bands that change gears inside the automatic transmission.

The crank but won’t start condition, along with the trouble codes may make you think you’ve got a PATS anti-theft system problem. However, Ford reports that these codes are all related to software bugs. The only way around the problem is to reprogram the PCM with the latest software.

CURRENTLY STUCK, Took battery up and charge it fully at auto store, just incase. No difference. looking for help

Take it no work done on head lineing I had this put screw through wire when refittng sun visior fuse under back seat gone and no cranking could not believe a interior light could stop cranking
