[xk8] no back light on radio at night?

is there suppose to be a back light for the radio stations ? If so
is there a way to replace it? its in a 1997 convt.

Yes, the radio LCD display has backlight and also the
buttons are illuminated. The LCD display has a small 12V
lamp soldered to the front panel circuit board, and can be
replaced (I did it… in fact, I replaced it with a blue
LED). But in order to access to this PCB, you have to
dismantle completely the radio, so it is not an easy task -
not taking into account that to take the radio off the car
is also a quite amount of work. If the buttons aren’t
illuminated, as was in mine, the problem in my case was a
burned resistor in the main radio PCB - all the button lamps
were OK.

Hi sorry to dig up an old post. I have the same issue, none of the bulbs light up. Could someone point me to which resistor has to be replaced ?
