[E-Type] Distributor bushing hole orientation

Been having a bit of a discussion regarding the hole
orientation in the distributor drive shaft bushing. Some
point out the hole should be facing forward; others to the
rear. To me it would makes sense to have it facing to the
rear or oil passage that runs front to back inside the block
sealed in the front by a small bolt and copper washer and in
the back of the block by a plug and copper washer.
AAARRRGGGHHH if I have it the wrong way. I swear I live
underneath that Jag.
What say the members.

In the manual it shows the hole facing to the rear. The hole is
clearly for lubrication, as it feeds into an internal groove in
the bushing that goes 360 degrees around the bushing, and would be
non functional facing forward. Just installed a new bushing. Did
it facing back. I’m sleeping nights.
