Help, 4.2L distributor drive shaft housing

The distributor drive shaft housing. I don’t know and others will add experience:

[E-Type] Distributor bushing hole orientation

Been having a bit of a discussion regarding the hole orientation in the distributor drive shaft bushing. Some point out the hole should be facing forward; others to the rear. To me it would makes sense to have it facing to the rear or oil passage that runs front to back inside the block sealed in the front by a small bolt and copper washer and in the back of the block by a plug and copper washer.
