A car’s belt line refers to the portion of the car where the window glass meets the top of the doors. I think what you are referring to is generally called a rub strip of just “trim”

I think the line Paul is referring to is called the swage line.

Technically, you are correct, and the Rover has a distinctive beltline, too. I did mean the rub strip/paint strip line down the center line of the doors. Without them, they just look very slab sided.

The swage line is just below the belt line.

Hard to tell by the photo but to me it just looks like a piece of trim, not something formed into the sheetmetal.

It’s actually a piece of trim, and a pinstripe. The trim is missing on the rear fender, because it’s some point that fender got changed. I’m going to put a piece of trim off another car on that to complete that.
