Jaguar xj6 4.2 engine not turning

Just got block and head back from engineers re assembled firing order and timing set up correctly turning by hand will not do full rotation checked crank shaft oil pick-up pipes are clear valves all set correctly l, any ideas ?
Clutch converter is attached to fly wheel don’t know if this will make it different

There is a physical bind somewhere, and you should not attempt to force it to move. If out of the car, best to pull the pan and try turning the crankshaft. My suspicion is there is a bind ‘down there’.

Incorrect valve timing?

William
If you have the flywheel installed make sure the two dowels have not been installed too far in and touching the rear seal housing.
If that is not the issue, Remove the camshafts and then rotate, If the crankshaft does not bind the problem is in the head, probably incorrect valve timing and valves are hitting.

The most serious binding is wrong valve timing, Andrew - even the slightest force may easily bend a valve…

How positively sure are you that the valve timing and valve clearances are to spec?? As Morris say; remove/release both camshafts and retest to verify - main issue is to avoid bending valves…

Other issues cannot be neglected, but is less likely to cause instant damage - and may be more difficult to positively identify…

The engine is not yet fitted to the car…?
