[v12-engine] engine mounts

Gentlemen:

This was posted a week ago on the XJS-list, but got no good
responses, therefore I decided to try here – the engine
mounts for the 6.0L V12 convertible and the 6.0L V12 coupe
different, why?

I hoping someone might know if it is the softness or the
height that changes. BTW, transmission mount is the same.

Additional facts:

The 6.0L coupe per JDHT requires part number MHC7522AA.
The 6.0L convertible per JDHT requires part number CBC5734.
The 5.3L coupes and convertibles are the same (JLM1010, now
MHC7522AA)

Is there anything special about the convertible with the
6.0L engine? Engine sits lower/higher to balance the center
of gravity? Mount stiffness different to reflect the softer
convertible ride?
What will happen if MHC7522AA is used instead of CBC5734
(the latter is NLA).

Best regards,
Steve–

I will also add that the front crossmember bushes also appear
to be different for the coupe vs conv:

The 6.0L coupe per JDHT requires part number MHC2370AA.
The 6.0L convertible per JDHT requires part number CBC5736.

But, the 5.3L follows suite
The 5.3L coupe per JDHT requires part number MHC2370AA.
The 5.3L convertible per JDHT requires part number CBC5736.–

I will also add that the front crossmember bushes also appear
to be different for the coupe vs conv:

After the first year or two of XJ-S convertible production, Jaguar
added a cross brace under the engine compartment. The end result was
reportedly a noticeable reduction in cowl shake and chassis flex.
The cross brace attaches in the vicinity of the crossmember bushes,
though, so perhaps that explains why the part numbers change.

Thanks Kirby. You say in the ‘‘The Book’’ that the crossmember
bushes are offset differently (3/8-1/4’’ vs 3/8-1/8’’ and
recommend washers to set the poly-bushes tight).
I wonder, if some sort of spacers will be required for the
engine mounts. Has anyone done that?

Obviously, since I own a 6.0L convertible, and with those
parts NLA (and NO aftermarket option that I am aware of), I am
a little bit concerned.
