Looking for Mk2 escutcheon rings

Hi - I’m finishing out the doors on my Mk2, and several of the escutcheon rings have been ruined. I need 4 sets (enuff for 2 doors). I have springs and pins. Anyone have these? Contact me off list if you do. Thanks, David

Hello UKDavo,
I have the escucheons that you need in nice condition. Do you need 8 of them total, with backing springs? I am in Maine USA. Are you in the UK? gbbourque at gmail . Thanks, Garrett [quote=“ukdavo, post:1, topic:351721, full:true”]

Hi Garrett; I’m here in Oregon.
i need the inner and outer escutcheon rings, four of each, enough to do two
doors. Don’t need springs. If you have them, how much would they be
including shipping, and what payment method would you like? Thanks, David

Hello Dave, Good to hear from you. This is the first time I have responded to the “new” forum. I hope I am doing it correctly! I would send the set of 8 escucheons that you need, all with good chrome for $80 and I will cover the postage. Let me know if you need the springs or not. I have them if you do.
I have parted out 4 Mark 2 cars and 2 STypes. I have 2 STypes of my own and I own a restoration shop where I do a lot of classic Jaguar restoration, as well. If you are looking for any parts besides the door handle/crank escucheons, please feel free to ask. I have some NOS parts. Some chrome bumpers and guards, several rebuildable Moss overdrive transmissions, starters, generators, int trim such as steering wheel column cover pieces, switches, an original red center console for an automatic, doors, hoods trunklids, exterior chrome trim and a few parts of fenders that I have cut off the cars I had. I kept whatever I could as I took these cars apart. If you wish to call, my cell is (REDACTED). Paypal is my email address REDACTED@gmail.com
Thanks for your interest, Garrett Bourque

Forum seems to be working fine. Good to know about you as a parts source.
Next winter I may do a trans swap if my car is running well. Right now I’m
trying to get the interior finished for some summer driving.
There’s an EBay source for a set of new escutcheons for $82, so your price
seems a little high. If you will go for $60, I’ll send you paypal pmt and
address etc. Have a great day, David

Hello Dave,
Earlier, when I first saw your ad, I was a little unclear if I was
replying to you, or posting on the forum! I think I might have posted my
cell phone number in the forum!?! Oh well!
Out of curiousity, what color is the interior in your car? Right now,
here are a few projects I am doing. I am using a John’s Cars GM
transmission swap kit to put a modern automatic transmission in a
customer’s MK2. This car is also getting a major rocker panel rebuild.
This winter, I just rebuilt a 4.2 engine, in a '66 XKE, which the customer
overheated, last summer. A good transmission adds a lot over the original
automatic fitted to these cars! A few years ago, I did the same
conversion GM/John’s Cars conversion on a friend’s 3.8 SType. My own 3.8S
was also an automatic and I installed a 4 syncro OD transmission, out of a
'68 420, as I restored it. That manual transmission works very nicely too.
I was lucky to locate an old salvage yard in 2004. The yard had 4 MK2
cars and an XK120, as well as multitudes of smaller sports cars, old
American trucks and all sorts of American cars. It was fun to explore.
The couple of STypes I have parted out were acquired as customer’s
abandoned projects, or cars out from long time storage.
I looked and may have located the EBay auction that you mentioned. Was
the man selling based in Alexandria, Lousiana? The seller was offering
these pieces for $23 per pair of parts for one handle, or $82 for a set of
parts for 4 handles. So, his set would either cover the front doors or the
back doors for a MK2. The pieces for sale in that auction are
reproductions. Generally, I have found that original parts are a better
bet for longevity of plating and accurate fit, then reproduced parts are,
as long as they are in good condition of course. There are exceptions to
every rule and this can sometimes not be the case. If original parts have
been heavily weathered, are bent, cracked, or are beyond easy repair, then
it is better to start with another piece! However, I like to use original
stuff when I can.
I will offer the parts for $10 for an inner and outer piece, for one
handle and include shipping. There is an inner and outer ring, that are
slightly different sizes, around each crank or handle. What I have here,
available, are all in good condition. I will offer these at half the price
of the reproductions in the auction. Please clarify how many that you
need. My understanding is that you needed enough to do all 8 handles on
all 4 doors.
If you are in need of any other interior parts, I can also see what I
have that you could use. I would be happy to provide parts and assistance
as you reassemble your car.
Sincerely, Garrett Bourque

Hello Dave,
After reading your earlier ontes, I misunderstood what you needed! You
wanted enough of these to replace the escutcheons on 2 doors…not all 4
doors, so please disregard comments I made about all 4 doors in my other
recently sent note! My error! Your offer for $60 for a set of parts to do
4 door handles is fine! I will gather them up and get them ready to send
after I receive your payment to Paypal and your mailing address. Sorry for
the mixup! Garrett

My apologies to Jag-lovers! I thought I was replying directly to a posting via email posting, not posting in the public forum. This was the first time I have posted on the new forum, even though I have been a member of Jag-lovers for many years.
Sincerely, Garrett Bourque

Garret,

I just spotted this. I’ve edited your post and redacted the info for you, but you can edit your own posts on the new platform, instructions here

Info on how to send a Private message is here

In general I would ask you to keep sales conversations private. There is a grey area here, and I think it would be silly to expect you to create a classified ad in the classified ads section, then say to @ukdavo “Here is a link to my ad for exactly the parts you want”. If someone asks for some part which you have, just zip them a PM. I’ve no objection to you writing in “I have those parts, I’ve sent you a PM”.

My car is a '62 3.8, auto, LHD. It had sat, luckily indoors, for 19 years
before I got it 2 yrs ago, and was fairly complete and rust free. It didn’t
take too long to get it running, but it did take a while to sort out
hydraulics. It is back on the road now, looking a little rough but I can’t
afford to get it painted yet. This winter I tore out the interior. Seats
have been recovered already, tan naugahyde. I had door panels made in a
slightly darker tan. Carpets are thrashed mustard yellow. I am ordering
carpets from England. I have restored the original woodwork - not perfect,
but looks ok from a distance. Trying to finish the wiring faults now. Ugh.

Sooo…I will paypal you $40 this eve. I need 4 (FOUR) sets of escutcheon
rings - enough to do 4 (FOUR) handles on 2 (TWO) doors. I agree with you
about the Jag plating quality - amazing how good most of the chrome on my
car looks after 60 years and minimal care!!!

Not sure if your replies to me are being posted to the forum, but they are
coming to my personal email box nicely. Have a good day.

Thanks much, David

I am seeing your replies to me only on the forum, even though I have privately messaged you one time so far!
